Nigerian president assures Cameroon on Bakassi ICJ stand
Answering questions at a joint press briefing after Nigeria and Cameroon signed bilateral agreement on security amongst others, President Buhari stated that Nigeria is an internationally respectful and law abiding nation. He said, "somehow, there was a crisis between the two nations on Bakassi Penisula over hydrocarbon exploitation. This issue is being dealt with by the International Court of Justice.
"On maritime resources, there is a committee of experts comprising Cameroon and Nigeria sides....after the results of the committee report gets to us and when they submit the report, I expect that with a few of us that are still around, we shall sit together and see what is the best way for the two countries. So feel secured and be at peace"
Zimbabwean man shoots wife and housemaid over HIV
The 30-year old married man identified as Phelimon Chigwada shot his maid Chiedza Rambanepasi for not informing him she had HIV before they had sex.
According to Harare police, Chigwada who has been having sex with the maid also shot his wife, Memory Mahar. But she survived the attack.
The angry man after learning he had contracted HIV confronted the house maid and accused her of infecting him with the virus. During their argument, Chigwada pulled out his gun and shot the maid and she died instantly.
His wife who was home during the argument was also shot in the jaw.
Chigwada was booked into jail and has been denied bail. He has been charged with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder.

Today's event is dedicated to Bob Morley, in commemoration of his death. Marley died on the 11th of May 1981.

FIFA remembers Rashidi Yekini
Rashidi Yekini, a former Nigeria Super Eagles striker died four years ago at the age of 48.
In a statement by FIFA on its website, the body remembered the goal historic goal and celebration of the late striker says "Yekini, who played for several clubs in Spain, Greece, Portugal and Switzerland, could hardly believe he had scored and spontaneously grabbed the net, shaking it and crying in celebration.
"The photo of the Nigerian international captivated the world and even today the former striker remains a respected figure in the global football family".
Yekini entered history books after scoring the first ever Super Eagles goal in a FIFA World cup at the USA 94 World cup tournament. It was a match against Bulgaria which Nigeria won 3-0.
Yekini is so far the highest goal scorer of the Super Eagles with 37 goals. He is the first Nigerian to win the CAF African footballer of the year in 1993 as well as won the African Nations Cup with the Super Eagles in 1994.
About 40 million airbags to be recalled by makers
At least 10 US deaths have been linked to the airbag problems, which can explode and send shrapnel ontothe faces and necks of victims. The airbags are spread across 22 different brands of cars and trucks. Honda Motor has the most cars with the faulty airbags.
The recall's expansion means that more than 20% of the nearly 260 million cars on U.S. roads have faulty airbags that need to be replaced.
There are already tens of millions of cars that have been identified as needing new airbags, but NHTSA has not been able to provide a precise number of affected vehicles. It does say that more than 8 million airbags that have been replaced, although some cars have had one airbag replaced and some have had two replaced.
But many owners of cars or trucks with airbags that are included on the recall list will have to wait months for a replacement airbag to become available. This expansion of the recall will only worsen the wait for replacement airbags.

Leicester's squad cost just a quarter of what Manchester City paid for their current players.
Leicester’s Premier League triumph has been heralded as one of the greatest stories in sporting history, with their title success undoubtedly the most remarkable top-flight success in the British game.
But their victory, which comes with two matches to spare, is all the more impressive given how their squad shapes up financially compared to the Premier League’s heavyweights of Manchester City, United and Chelsea among others.
Both City and Chelsea have splashed the cash since their respective takeovers by Sheikh Mansour and Roman Abramovich, while United have demonstrated their firepower in the transfer market other the last two seasons with Louis van Gaal spending £250m in the transfer market – with little success.
Taking into account City’s current squad, which features big-money signings such as Kevin De Bruyne [£58m], Raheem Sterling [£44m] and Sergio Aguero (£38m], the club boasts an incredible £411m worth of players on their books, and if the reports are to be believed that could increase by some margin next season when Manuel Pellegrini departs and Pep Guardiola arrives.
United are a relatively close second, with the likes of Anthony Martial [£36m] and Juan Mata [£37.1] seeing their squad total £391.1m, while Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal trail some way behind.
Leicester's squad, of course, doesn’t compare to the Premier League heavyweights, but it’s when you look at the size of the gap and the number of clubs in-between the Foxes and the most expensive squads.
The current Leicester squad totals just £52.8m, according to CIES Football Observatory, and it puts them 17th on the list of most expensive clubs with only the promoted teams this season below them in the chart.
The figure is helped by some remarkable scouting and transfer business by the staff at Leicester, with N’Golo Kante joining for a reported £5.6m, Jamie Vardy for a non-league record of £1m and Riyad Mahrez arriving from Le Havre for a cut-price £400,000.

President Paul Biya of Cameroon to visit Nigeria on Tuesday
President Biya will be accompanied by his wife, Chantal and senior Cameroonian government officials. They will be received by President Buhari on Tuesday afternoon at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
A statement by Mr. Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, reports that "both leaders and their officials will confer on issues of common interest to Nigeria and Cameroon, including ongoing bilateral and regional cooperation against terrorism, violent extremism and cross boarder crime.
"It is expected that new agreement to strengthen existing ties, as well as trade and economic relations between Nigeria and Cameroon, will be concluded and signed before the end of President Biya's visit.
"A joint communique on the visit and the talks between the two presidents and their officials will be issued before President Biya's departure from Abuja on Wednesday, May 4, 2016"
20 people and 83 cows killed in Nasarawa State by unknown gunmen
At Loko, the monarch claimed that about 20 people have been killed by gunmen in the last few weeks.
The killings were suspected to be reprisals by gunmen who crossed over from Benue State.
Although security agencies have stepped up investigation, the Fulani leader of Adayi area of Loko, Mallam Bideri Ahmadu, alleged that suspected Agatu gunmen from Benue State might be behind the killings.
The traditional ruler of Loko, Alhaji Abubakar Ahmed Sabo, alleged that Agatu youths might have perpetrated the act.
The Fulani community leader, Mallam Bideri Ahmadu, who addressed reporters in Loko, alleged that Agatu youths crossed over from Benue State about 10:30am last Saturday.
He said the suspects had wanted to “rustle the cows in their boats across River Benue, but the cattle went berserk because of sporadic shootings.”
Ahmadu said: “Upon realising they could not achieve their aim, the Agatu youth opened fire on the cows, killing 83. The injured ones are in the bush.”
The Mai Loko, Alhaji Abubakar Ahmed Sabo, said in the last few weeks, over 20 men, women and children were killed during attacks on Fulani people by Agatu youths from Benue State.
He said the Loko Development Area has only two police officers with no rifles and appealed for more security presence.
Sabo urged the Fulani not to retaliate because the government was looking into the crisis.
The Director of Personnel Management (DPM) of the development area, Danlami Umar, said the “fishing community has suffered a setback because the riverine area has been taken over by Agatu youths, who kill at will.
Police spokesman Ismaila Numan said the Nasarawa Division received a report of the killing of 83 cows by suspected hoodlums and investigation had started.
A security source said: “There has been tension in the area since the killing of more than 300 people in Agatu area of Benue State by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
“We are suspecting reprisals by Agatu youths who do not want Fulani herdsmen in their area again.
“The crisis between the Fulani and the Agatu is posing a threat to life and property in the two states.
“Nasarawa and Benue governments have to step into the incessant clashes between the Fulani and the Agatu.”

See a replica of Noah's ark in the Netherlands
The ark is 29 meters wide, 125 meters long and 7 storeys high. It was built by a Dutch carpenter who spent years building it, as described in the Bible book of Genesis. It was built as a religious attraction and has been open since 2012, attracting thousands of visitors.
The fully functioning replica is to cross the Atlantic ocean, a
5000 mile journey. It is expected to be in Brazil for two years, docking accross ports in Brazil and raising money for Christian charity.
Animals get their own bathrooms at JFK Airport, New York
Special bathrooms for animals have been installed at the John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York. One of such, located at Terminal 4 is among a growing number of "pet relief facilities" being installed at major hubs accross the United States.
The facility at Terminal 4 of JFK Airport is a 70 square foot room. It allows dogs and other animals to relieve themselves without needing to exit the building to search for a place to do it outside, which required exiting through the security line.
The US federal regulations will require all airports over 10,000 passengers per year to install a pet relief area in every terminal by August this year.
APC promoting corruption says Onovo
Onovo, who spoke in an interview, also claimed that the anti-corruption war of President Muhammadu Buhari is one-sided and targeted at the opposition.
According to him, most corrupt politicians in Nigeria today are in the ruling party.

Ebonyi State residents in panic as prisoners protest over poor meals
What almost became a jailbreak was foiled after the inmates protested against the poor quality of food prisons officials had been serving them. But for quick response by military and police personnel, who following a distress call stormed the area, the situation might have spiraled out of control.
One resident of the town, who identified himself as Sunday, said people, especially those who live close to the prison, fled from their homes and hid in bushes. “We did not sleep in our homes that night for fear of being attacked. It was very serious. I took my wife and two-month-old son and hid them in the bush. We thought it was a jailbreak but in the morning we learnt they were protesting against poor food quality,” he said.
It was learnt the prisoners believed the Federal Government was investing huge sums of money for their welfare and wondered why this was not translating into good meals on their plates. After a serving of what the inmates said was low quality rice, despite several complaints to prison officials, their anger boiled over.
It was learnt that the inmates broke the fence that housed them and came out hurling stones and other dangerous objects. They put prison officials to flight, and allegedly assaulted female inmates sexually.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP George Okafor, said: “Yes, there was a little problem in the Afikpo prisons, which would have resulted in jailbreak but it was aborted by police response, as we cordoned of the area.”
A source, who did not want his name in print, said the Federal Government approves N970,000 weekly for feeding of the inmates. He accused some officials of the prisons of inciting the inmates against the management. According to him, some top officials are not happy with the massive transfer of indigenous staff from the area.
One senior prison official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the prison authority is surprised the inmates had been planning the protest for months without anyone getting wind of the matter. He called for urgent steps to address the situation, to forestall a jailbreak.
“If these inmates were able to plan this protest secretly for months and execute it without our knowledge, one day they will plan a jail break and none of us will be aware,” he said.
