The Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brig. Gen. Paul Boroh has expressed confidence in the ability of the Nigerian Youth to proffer practical and durable solutions to emerging socio-political and economic challenges confronting the nation.Brig. Gen. Paul Boroh stated this at the commissioning of the Skills Acquisition training for 200 delegates of the Presidential Amnesty Programme in Automobile Technology and Plastic Manufacturing.The exercise which is in partnership with the Innoson Group has 120 delegates under-going training in Automobile Technology and 80 in Plastic manufacturing at the Innoson-Kiara Academy Umudim Nnewi Anambra state and Emene Enugu State respectively.The skills Acquisition programme is part of an Education for Employment Initiative conceived by the Presidential Amnesty Office and some of its key partners for youth in the Niger Delta region.The Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brig. Gen. Paul Boroh is optimistic that with basic and advanced skills in key technical fields, young Nigerians could rise to the occasion and provide answers to some development issues in the country.He described the Automobile Technology Training in Anambra State as being particularly critical considering current efforts by the Federal government to transfer and develop local expertize in car manufacturing.Anambra State Governor, Willy Obianor was represented by the State deputy governor Dr. Nkem Okeke at the commissioning of the Skills Acquisition training at the Innoson Kiara Academy in Nnewi.The governor commended the Presidential Amnesty Office for embarking on the initiative and expressed hope that the delegates would be assiduous and apply themselves to the training in order to garner the requisite skills that would position them to start up small enterprises.At the Innoson Kiara Academy in Enugu State, a representative of the delegates’ under-going training in Plastic manufacturing Udeme Francis Ikpeme had in a statement appreciated the Federal government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari for showing commitment in human capital development in the Niger Delta.The Chief Executive Officer of the Academy, Ende Ezengwa had in his statement lauded the Presidential Amnesty Office for keying into the National drive to encourage the growth of cottage industries.He reiterated the readiness and commitment of the academy to mentor the young Niger Delta youths in their quest to acquire skills that would make them entrepreneurs.The Innoson Kiara Academy has a mandate to train the 200 delegates for a nine month period after which they will be employed by the Innoson Group or given business starter packs by the Presidential Amnesty Office.
