UN Secretary-General appoints Nigerian to lead UN investigation in South Sudan

Nigerian Abiodun Bashau has been appointed by UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-Moon to lead the UN investigation into the attack against the UN mission in South Sudan.

The announcement was made on Tuesday in New York. The attack on the UN mission protecting civilians in Malakal left 25 civilians dead and 144 injured. The investigation will examine the circumstances that led to the attack from Feb 17. to Feb 18.
